About Me:

Simon Coffey, exAucklander now living in Wellington.

As an Aucklander (during the 80s/90's) I used to go and see bands as diverse as No Tag, Kiwi Animal, SPUD and The Bats at
venues as diverse as The Windsor Castle, the Performance Cafe, SPAM and the Uni-Cafe at University of Auckland.

I was also involve in 95BFM for a number of years, as a DJ, volunteer and as an employee, I used the name 'DJ Sicoff'
and hosted the Hard Fast & Heavy Show for over a decade. As a University student I ran a couple of Uni-Clubs that put
on shows at the Uni-Cafe, including bands like The Warners, Exploding Budgies, Bygone Era, Fetus Productions and K4.

I ran a (very) small record/tape label that released material by The Warners, Bygone Era, Fish for life, Freak power, Albino Slug,
Dead Image and a few others, it was called Onslaught Records. And there was also the fanzines full of youthfull
enthuisiasm (anarchy), enough said on that matter.

These days I am focused on my wee boy, football (soccer) history and uni (Teachers College)

The Cat in the first picture was called Willliam and he was kept by Jim Abbott (his homebrew was infamous in Herne Bay) now
he is a member of Ghostclub lives in Wainuiomata and still makes homebrew (and now has two cats, chickens and a pizza oven)

The other guy in the second photo is Chris Bolter who was the bassist in The Warners early on. My most vivid memory of him is
of being at his flat one morning (in Ponsonby, near the shops) after crashing there that night (mid eighties I think)
I was having a fried breakfast with (I think) Troy Ferguson and Chris burst in naked and starts doing pull ups from a rafter
in the roof, with his tackle free as a bird! We were hmmm speechless, and not very hungry for a while...

And the in the third photo, meet Andrew Moon, whom was the Drummer in North Shore punk band Public Enemy in the early 1980's and
later drummer in Goblin Mix, he still makes music as a solo artist under the moniker (amongst others) of RST
I remember being the (default) roady for Public Enemy in 1982 when they played at Sweetwaters, Rheineck Beer was big then and
throwing banana's at DD Smash when they played, not realising the bands biggest fans, mongrel mob or black power
were up the front watching, as you can read we survived.
